Gallery of Modern Art
The Gallery of Modern Art, which is part of the National Museum in Smederevska Palanka, has not invested in the space, since its foundation in 1990, except for its minimal maintenance.
After almost 30 years, the need for a new concept was finally formed.
The starting idea for the adaptation of the Gallery of Modern Art was to provide visitors and artists dynamic and always fresh character of the exhibition space, which would be in accordance with contemporary exhibition practice.
The exhibit value of the gallery lies in the ability to create different spatial postulates, and it can be achieved using moving walls, which adapt the space into different art formats.
The geometry of the moving walls relies on the shapes and proportions of the existing space and the functioning of the space itself, making a major step forward.
The transformation of the existing geometry influences the position of the lighting and the formation of the ceiling and this makes harmony between the existing and the newly projected space. At the same time, this creates a unity of space, which additionally gives one form of purification to the architectural challenge itself.
The goal of this intervention was to make the exhibit space more interactive and communicative for the needs of contemporary fine arts, in which, I hope, we succeeded.
